kallan is an independent German commercial law firm with international roots. Until 2016, our team of experienced lawyers formed the German offices of a leading Scandinavian law firm. Today we are operating independently as kallan and provide services across the whole commercial law spectrum.
kallan combines German legal expertise with a distinct international outlook and mindset. We are a boutique law based in Germany but think and work internationally – a smaller firm by choice: large enough to handle complex matters, yet agile enough to provide personal attention, commercial pragmatism and clear advice that is capable of thinking outside the box.
Our lawyers work for you as one team across practice areas, bringing together deep legal knowledge, extensive international experience, commercial understanding and genuine expertise of cross-border business. Reflecting our Nordic focus, one, of our German-qualified lawyers is also qualified as an advokat in Sweden.
From our offices in Berlin and Frankfurt offices, we offer services to clients throughout Germany. Through our long-standing network of trusted partner firms across the Nordic region and beyond, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, we can seamlessly coordinate specialist local advice whenever cross-border matters require it. OurStory
kallan builds on the long-term activities as the German offices of a leading Swedish law firm and has been present as independently in Germany since 2016. Many of our lawyers have an international background and are often particularly connected to Scandinavia, speak English and also a Scandinavian language and are uniquely experienced in German-Scandinavian business relations. We are proud of this background and as kallan we maintain this approach. Since establishing kallan, we have seen that also German and other international companies appreciate our craft – a combination of clear advice, open communication and practical solutions.
Our name also emphasises our history: kallan comes from the Swedish word "källan", meaning "source" or "origin". kallan is a reminder of our past and stands for the clarity of our approach.
